MCS has developed the required skills for the restoration of property which is normally subject to an investigation by the Forensic Department of the Police Service.
During this investigation the use of fingerprint powder (aluminium dust on dark or mirrored surfaces or carbon black for white surfaces), luminol (reveals the presence of blood) and other associated applications can be used. MCS selects the best process to remove such applications based upon the chemical and surface that requires cleaning.
We regularly see homes, apartments and units packed with garbage, rodent waste and gross filth. MCS can coordinate / organise to remove and discard belongings from the home and then begin decontaminating the property.
Certain properties MCS attends contain an over abundance of material usually collected by the resident. This is also known as hoarding.
Hoarding is the excessive collection and retention of things or animals until they interfere with day-to-day functions such as home, health, family, work and social life.
Severe hoarding causes safety and health hazards. The collection of newspapers, magazines, food, old cloths and other items may cause fire risks and is an ideally environment for infestation of rodents, insects and at times maggots. In such sites MCS requests clear instructions particular of those items which the client wants to retain.
All too often there are reports that someone has come across a discarded needle. When needles are found they almost always have been used and contaminated with blood. Often there is a small amount of blood left inside, blood soaked bandages or cotton wool and viruses that are not visible to the human eye.
These needles / bandages may have viruses that cause hepatitis B and C, and HIV, plus many other diseases. Therefore, it is important that the needle be safely collected and disposed of correctly.
MCS offers the searching of facilities, collection and disposal of such items ensuring nobody gets hurt accidentally.
MCS provides complete services to emergency services facilities and vehicles that have been contaminated by biohazardous substances such as blood, urine, faeces and vomit.
Our services cover; emergency vehicle decontamination, prison cells / detention centres / holding areas or interrogation room cleanups.
MCS is regularly requested to visit a site to investigate the source of a bad odour which includes the detection and removal of a dead animal e.g. rodent. The site then requires to be decontaminated and location and surrounding areas deodorised.
